About iShares Silver Trust

iShares Silver Trust is a grantor trust that seeks to track the price performance of silver bullion, measured by the LBMA Silver Price. It provides investors with convenient and cost-effective exposure to the silver market without the need to directly purchase, store, or safeguard physical silver. The trust holds physical silver bullion in London, with shares designed to reflect the market price of the silver owned by the trust, less the trust's expenses and liabilities, including a sponsor fee of 0.50%. Unlike traditional investment companies registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, iShares Silver Trust operates as a passive vehicle not subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds or ETFs. It offers a practical alternative for participating in silver price movements, used in diverse industrial applications, through shares traded on the secondary market via brokerage accounts. Authorized participants can create or redeem large units called Baskets. Launched in 2006, iShares Silver Trust plays a key role in the commodities segment of financial markets, facilitating diversified access to precious metals.
