AlphaScala Daily: Oil dumps 6%, crypto slides, NKE cluster buy
Monday, August 3, 2026
Good morning.
Crude tumbled about 6% after Iran denied any deal on the Strait of Hormuz, and the risk-off tone bled into crypto over the weekend, with ETH down 2.4% to 1,840 and BTC off 1.6% near 62,550. Gold pushed the other way, ticking up to 4,057. On the signal tape, four Nike insiders bought a net $2.17M over the past 30 days, easily the loudest cluster of the day, while ten TSM insiders added a much smaller $45K. Grupo Cibest tops the model at 84, with Kinross Gold and U.S. Bancorp tied behind at 79. Let's dive in.
