Off-White launched its first watch collection on Tuesday, a line called “TIME” that marks the streetwear brand’s entry into horology. The move extends Off-White’s creative universe beyond apparel and sneakers into a category where design credibility, not just logo recognition, determines success.
Off-White is betting that the aesthetic language Virgil Abloh established – industrial straps, bold typography, deconstructed forms – will translate to a wrist-mounted product where margins are thinner and the competition runs deep. The brand did not disclose pricing or production volumes. A spokesperson described the collection as “a natural evolution of the brand’s industrial design philosophy.”
The watch market is crowded at every price point. Swatch Group dominates the sub-$500 tier. Apple owns the smartwatch segment. Fashion brands from Gucci to Diesel have long tried and mostly failed to build dedicated watch followings. Off-White’s advantage is a cult-like customer base willing to pay premiums for limited drops. The question is whether that same enthusiasm carries into a product people wear daily and compare against established mechanical and quartz references.
Sell-through rates at the brand’s retail partners and on its own site over the first two weeks will be the first real signal. Consistent secondary-market premiums above retail would indicate genuine demand rather than curiosity buying. Without those signals, the collection risks being treated as a novelty accessory rather than a category entry.
Off-White is owned by New Guards Group, which is itself a subsidiary of Coupang, the South Korean e-commerce firm. The watch launch gives Coupang a new product category to push through its luxury platform Farfetch, though distribution details have not been announced.
The collection begins arriving at Off-White stores and select retailers this week.
