SaaStr hit 40GB of Salesforce storage in 30 days as AI agents wrote 21 million records through the API. The renewal agent built in half a day drove higher response from the smallest sponsors than the largest ones.
Salesforce Inc. flagged SaaStr for storage overages weeks after the company moved its marketing data onto the platform. The cause was not human activity but the volume of records written by AI agents.
SaaStr co-founder Jason Lemkin wrote in a blog post Friday that the company's agents have written an estimated 21 million records into Salesforce, pushing storage from about 5GB to roughly 40GB in 30 days. The agents log task records, email sends, opens, clicks, call metadata, and enrichment data through the API. Neither Lemkin nor Amelia Lerutte, SaaStr's AI product lead, had logged into Salesforce in the week before the overage alert.
"We're not the ones writing," Lemkin wrote. "The agents are in there constantly."
The storage jump reflects a broader shift in how CRM pricing works when AI agents replace human data entry. Salesforce's architecture was built for a human clicking a UI a few dozen times a day, not for agents writing continuously, Lemkin said. The same 21 million records would cost roughly a thousand times less on a Postgres-based database such as Neon, Supabase, or Databricks, according to an estimate the team ran through Claude.
Lemkin said he expects more vendors to raise API pricing on the logic that customers buy fewer seats and revenue must come from somewhere. But for SaaStr, where data volume is up 10x and heading toward 100x, a 20% per-call increase on top of a 10x volume jump becomes a 200% or 2,000% total cost increase.
"What that buys you is our decision to put the next 100GB somewhere else," he wrote.
The post also detailed a renewal agent Lerutte built in about half a day on top of 10K, SaaStr's AI VP of Revenue. The agent pulls data from Salesforce, the saastr.com WordPress API, social accounts, the podcast archive, Bizzabo for event lead counts, and Lerutte's Gmail. It then builds custom sponsor renewal decks through the Gamma API. About 20 to 30 decks have gone out. Before the agent, the team had capacity to build five custom decks per renewal cycle.
The smallest sponsors -- those writing the smallest checks and historically the lowest renewal rate -- responded at a higher rate than the largest sponsors did, Lemkin wrote.
The ServiceTitan-Podium dispute provides a parallel. ServiceTitan, the system of record for a large share of the trades industry, cut off Podium's integration for roughly 1,000 shared customers after Podium crossed nine figures of agent revenue. Podium's agent had started scheduling appointments, tracking jobs, and holding records -- functions that overlapped with ServiceTitan's own system. ServiceTitan's public position was that partners could not use the partnership to displace the platform.
Lemkin warned the same dynamic is coming for customer experience and support. "If a customer talks to your agent on someone's website and that agent keeps them, the CRM underneath that interaction may not be needed at all," he wrote.
10K, described as a headless version of Salesforce, now runs six systems: classic Salesforce CRM, Qualified, Momentum for call recordings, Agentforce, Marketing Cloud Next, and a custom quote-to-cash app reaching PandaDoc, Bill.com, and QuickBooks. Lerutte had never logged into Salesforce in a decade before building 10K.
On champion tracking, the agent initially performed poorly through the Replit and Clay integration. Lerutte handed the task to Claude directly, which used both the Clay connector and the browser. The browser was faster, completing the work in about an hour versus a day through MCP. The agent then suggested running ZoomInfo inside Clay, which neither human had considered, and produced the best enrichment list the team has gotten.
"Being the answer when someone asks an AI 'who's the best enrichment vendor' is the easy half," Lemkin wrote. "The hard half is being the tool the agent reaches for while it's doing the work, and being fast enough that it doesn't route around you. Clay won that on our stack."
10K also proposed running the same renewal machinery on inbound leads without human intervention: every inbound that books a meeting or downloads the media kit would get a custom proposal. Lerutte tested a proof of concept this week.
CRM (Salesforce Inc.) holds an Alpha Score of 66, labeled Moderate, in the technology sector.
The next episode of The Agents will show how the inbound proposal system was built. SaaStr AI Annual 2027 runs May 11-12 in the San Francisco Bay Area.
