Macgregor: West Risks Conflict 'Costing Millions of Lives'

Colonel Douglas Macgregor, a retired U.S. Army officer and former acting secretary of defense under President Trump, said Western leaders are operating under dangerous illusions about the Ukraine war. The conflict could escalate into a confrontation that would cost millions of lives, he said in an interview for an upcoming documentary titled "World War III."

Macgregor called the political elite in London, Paris, and Washington "certifiable" for assuming that prolonging the war would trigger an internal rebellion against President Putin.

He described the current leadership in the UK, France, and Germany as a combination of "ignorance, arrogance, and wishful thinking." The people making decisions, he said, "don't understand how close they are to a confrontation that could cost millions of lives."

On the Israel-Gaza conflict, Macgregor called Israel's military campaign "genocidal" and said the push for a wider regional war would prove catastrophic for both Israel and the United States. He pointed to Iran's growing military capacity.

He said the aggressive posture of Israel is not sustainable over the long term. Prime Minister Netanyahu and his supporters feel a sense of urgency, Macgregor argued, because they have "control of the United States, its armed forces, its population, its government, in ways they've never had before, and it's not going to last."

Macgregor reserved his harshest criticism for the United States. He drew a direct historical parallel to the Vietnam War, which acted as a catalyst for ending the gold standard. The U.S. has a habit of spending itself into oblivion and hollowing out its industrial base to serve the military-industrial-congressional complex, he said. This fiscal decay is colliding with a profound crisis of trust within the American public.

He identified the covid pandemic as a turning point. Citizens realized they were being lied to by institutions ranging from the NIH and the WHO to the Department of Defense, Macgregor said. While Americans are increasingly suspicious of the institutional media and the political class in Washington, the nation remains largely unprepared for a shift from abundance to scarcity and potential civil unrest.

For investors, Macgregor's analysis highlights the potential for a dramatic escalation that could disrupt global supply chains, affecting companies such as Apple (AAPL) that rely on international manufacturing and sales. The interview is part of a documentary set to be released in the coming months.
