Forrester Research released a framework Wednesday aimed at helping chief information security officers secure AI agents, which the firm says pose risks that traditional cybersecurity models cannot handle. The framework, called AEGIS – short for Agentic AI Enterprise Guardrails for Information Security – covers six domains: identity and access, data privacy, operations, risk, architecture, and governance.
The framework introduces principles such as "least agency" and "continuous assurance," Forrester said. It includes a phased implementation roadmap because the shift from securing generative AI to securing autonomous agents is urgent but not overnight.
