Century Aluminum backs Trump's tariff deal for domestic smelter investors, cutting import duties to 25% from 50% for qualifying new capacity.
CENTURY ALUMINUM CO currently carries an Alpha Score of n/a, giving AlphaScala's model a neutral read on the setup.
Century Aluminum said Friday it supports President Trump's latest executive order on domestic aluminum production, a policy shift that cuts the import tariff rate for qualifying smelter investors from 50% to 25%.
The order, signed today, lets companies building new U.S. primary aluminum capacity import a matching volume of metal at the reduced rate. For Century, which announced a joint venture with Emirates Global Aluminum in February to build a 750,000-tonne smelter in Inola, Oklahoma, the change directly lowers the cost of bridging supply before the plant ramps.
"President Trump is again prioritizing America first by making it easier to make investments like Oklahoma Primary Aluminum," CEO Jesse Gary said in a statement. The project, if built, would more than double current U.S. primary output and add over 1,000 direct jobs, according to the company.
Century also recently expanded capacity at its Mt. Holly plant in South Carolina, adding 150 jobs and boosting total U.S. production by 10%.
The company owns smelters in the U.S. and Iceland and is the majority owner of the Jamalco alumina refinery in Jamaica. Its Alpha Score is currently unavailable, and the stock is listed on the CENX stock page.
