Ryanair Passenger Injured After Window Dislodges on Boeing 737 Max

A Ryanair passenger was injured after a cabin window dislodged during a flight from Greece to Germany on Friday, the airline said. Flight 1879 departed Thessaloniki about 6 a.m. for Memmingen, Germany. Roughly 10 minutes after takeoff, the Boeing 737 Max turned back and landed in Thessaloniki.

Local media reported that a 61-year-old man was partially sucked out of the window, with other passengers pulling him back inside. Reuters cited two industry sources confirming the partial ejection. Ryanair did not confirm that detail but said one passenger received medical assistance after landing. The plane landed normally. A replacement aircraft departed at 9:53 a.m., arriving in Memmingen about four hours late.

The aircraft is a Boeing 737 Max, a model that has been under heightened regulatory oversight since two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.
