NVRO Metals has appointed Jonathan Gill as technical advisor and director nominee, the company said Monday. Gill, a professional engineer with more than 50 years in mining, will stand for election at the annual general meeting scheduled for Oct. 7.
Gill is an independent director of Agnico Eagle Mines, where he chairs the technical committee and serves on the health, safety and environment committee. He joined that board in 2022 and was re-elected in May. He previously served on the boards of Kirkland Lake Gold and Lake Shore Gold.
His operating career includes senior roles at Inco, where he held mine management positions across Ontario and Manitoba divisions and with PT Inco in Indonesia. After retiring from full-time executive work, he took on project assignments for Inco on the Goro nickel project in New Caledonia, and carried out technical reviews for FNX Mining’s Sudbury operations, the Ambatovy nickel project in Madagascar and the Onca Puma project in Brazil.
Under the advisory agreement dated July 31, Gill receives a one-time sign-on award of 350,878 restricted stock units, vesting one year from grant. The RSUs are issued under the company’s omnibus long-term incentive plan.
NVRO Metals recovers precious and critical metals from sulfidic mine tailings and ores using its proprietary process. The company plans to own and operate centralized processing hubs, starting with the NVRO Metals Hub in Australia’s Northern Territory.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Gill to NVRO Metals,” said Paul McRae, the company’s lead independent director. “His significant board and management experience will be invaluable going forward.”
Gill said he believes the company’s goals are “laudable and well aligned with the interests of its stakeholders.” He looks forward to working with the board and management to advance those objectives.
The AGM is scheduled for Oct. 7. The TSX Venture Exchange must still accept Gill’s personal information form.
