Radisson Mining Resources has started an advanced underground exploration program on the O’Brien Project in Quebec, a move that activates two royalties held by Globex Mining Enterprises.
The program is backed by a C$57.16 million investment from Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (AEM). Globex owns a 1% GMR New Alger Royalty and a 2% NSR Kewagama Royalty on the property, the company said in a press release Tuesday.
Agnico Eagle, rated Strong with an Alpha Score of 75 by AlphaScala’s proprietary model, is funding the underground work. Radisson plans to develop an access ramp, related underground and surface infrastructure, and water management facilities. Engineering and permitting work commences immediately, Radisson reported. The underground program is designed to collect geological and geotechnical data, plus operational information needed to evaluate mining options and future development scenarios.
Radisson will continue its 140,000-metre step-out drill program in parallel with the underground work.
For Globex, the exploration ramp provides a potential near-term catalyst. If O’Brien advances toward production, the two royalties would generate revenue from any gold sold. Globex also owns 100% of the Cadillac Wood project immediately east of O’Brien, which extends its exposure to the same geologic trend, the company noted. Globex shares trade on the TSX under the symbol GMX.
