Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley says the firm will unveil a first-of-a-kind product built on Coinbase's tokenized stocks on Base, following $1.8B in H1 inflows.
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley said the firm will unveil a new product built on top of Coinbase's recently launched tokenized stocks on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network. The announcement came days after the asset manager reported more than $1.8 billion in net inflows during the first half of 2026.
Horsley posted on X on Aug. 24 that Bitwise would show what it is building on top of the tokenized stocks. The post included a graphic linking Bitwise with Coinbase and Glider, a platform that helps deploy tokenized assets into DeFi. A day earlier, Horsley had teased a "first-of-a-kind new product type" aimed at onchain investors. Bitwise has not disclosed full product details.
Coinbase launched 1:1 backed tokenized versions of Apple, Nvidia, Meta and Alphabet on Base on Aug. 24. The tokens are available to non-U.S. users, can be held in self-custody wallets, and trade 24/7. They can also be used across Base's DeFi ecosystem. The move gives Bitwise a ready-made infrastructure layer to build investment products that go beyond simple stock exposure.
Bitwise's H1 inflows reached $1.8 billion, Horsley said. Each of the firm's four product areas – ETFs and ETPs, private active and alpha strategies, staking, and vaults – saw more than $100 million in inflows. The strong flows came despite a difficult market environment, Horsley added.
The asset manager has already experimented with putting traditional products onchain. In June, it launched the Bitwise Crypto Carry Fund, a tokenized fund that gives qualified investors exposure to a crypto cash-and-carry strategy. It also explored tokenizing shares of its Solana Staking ETF in partnership with Superstate.
Tokenized equities are attracting major crypto platforms. Bybit recently added Meta and Tesla xStocks, pushing the market above $1.48 billion, according to the exchange. Bitwise's push follows a similar logic: rather than just offering another way to buy stocks, the firm wants to build structured products that can move through blockchain-based financial markets.
Nvidia, one of the tokenized stocks, fell 2.91% to $208.48 on Monday. Its Alpha Score stands at 70, indicating moderate momentum. The stock remains a key component of the tokenized equity lineup on Base.
Bitwise is expected to reveal the full product details next week, the firm said.
