Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has identified a shallow, flat-lying zone of gold mineralisation at the Siona prospect, part of the New England Granite target within the Ironstone Well-Barwidgee gold project in Western Australia.
The company completed nine reverse-circulation holes targeting high-grade intercepts from previous drilling at the late-2024 discovery. Assays returned multiple significant intervals, confirming a sub-horizontal mineralised body southwest of the main Siona trend.
Managing director Chris Oorschot said the results point to a possible separate structure or a blanket of secondary mineralisation. Further RC drilling is planned for the second half of 2026 to resolve that question.
"Our previous RC and diamond drilling across the Siona gold discovery (in late 2024 and early 2025) included a number of mineralised intervals that were either outside of, or presenting a different geometry relative to the main Siona mineralised trend. These nine shallow RC holes were focussed on a possible trend situated to the southwest of the main mineralised structure."
The oxide nature of the intercepts and their consistent geometry are encouraging, Oorschot said, and should add to the prospect's resource potential. An updated exploration target for Siona is due in early August.
YRL also plans to resume RC drilling at the nearby Salusa target in the coming weeks. A broader air-core program at the New England Granite area will start once final heritage approvals are received.
Oorschot said the company is advancing exploration at the Arrakis discovery and the New England granite target, alongside the Siona work.
YRL shares traded at 20.0¢ before the open, giving a market capitalisation of A$76.3 million.
