Yandal Resources (ASX: YRL) has identified a third high-grade domain within the Arrakis gold discovery at its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) project in Western Australia. Assay results from infill RC drilling and diamond tails returned 17.5 metres at 2.3 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 127.5 metres, including 3.8 metres at 2.8 g/t, and 4.8 metres at 4.0 g/t from 135.5 metres. The intercepts sit roughly 50 metres down-dip of earlier high-grade hits.
Managing director Chris Oorschot said the new domain plunges to the south and remains open below the Yueh Shear Zone, a mylonitised structure where mineralisation is attenuated. "Interpretations suggest a south-plunging domain of higher-grade mineralisation, striking between 100m to 150m," he said. The zone is structurally disrupted, which Oorschot called "a strong at-depth target for future drilling."
The Arrakis system now has three defined high-grade domains over its 1.3-kilometre strike. The latest results came from 100-metre spaced drilling lines on the central section. Oorschot noted the emerging domain sits in the footwall of the Arrakis structure, directly below an intermediate porphyry.
Results from two more diamond tails are due in early September. The Arrakis prospect lies within the Yandal Greenstone Belt, defined by a 2.2-kilometre regolith gold anomaly from air-core drilling earlier this year.
YRL shares held at 14.5 cents ahead of the open, giving a market cap of A$55.3 million.
