Yandal Resources (ASX: YRL) confirmed continuity of high-grade gold mineralisation at depth at its Arrakis discovery in Western Australia. Four diamond holes showed the system remains open below a cross-cutting shear zone first identified earlier this year.
The steep plunging high-grade zone now has an approximate 150-metre strike length. Significant intercepts included 11.5 metres at 1.6 grams per tonne from 347.6 metres, with a higher-grade sub-interval of 5 metres at 3.1 g/t. Another hole returned 18 metres at 1.8 g/t from 290 metres, including 4.1 metres at 5.7 g/t. The mineralisation extends more than 250 metres from surface.
Managing director Chris Oorschot said the program demonstrated the Arrakis mineralised system is open at depth. “Several intercepts show a now familiar style of high-grade mineralisation more than 250 metres from surface,” he said. “These lab results, combined with geological observations, will help our team identify broad geological and structural features that control the geometry of mineralisation.”
The wholly owned Ironstone Well-Barwidgee (IWB) project covers 370 square kilometres in the northern Yandal Greenstone Belt, between the Jundee and Bronzewing gold mines. It carries an established resource of 268,000 ounces at the Flushing Meadows deposit. Arrakis and the nearby Siona prospect were discovered in the past 12 months.
Yandal will use data from a recent ground gravity survey across IWB to refine its stratigraphic and structural models around Arrakis and Flushing Meadows, and to generate new early-stage targets. The company expects to publish an exploration target for Arrakis in late July.
