Yandal Resources' diamond drilling at Flushing Meadows shows mineralisation extends well beyond the current resource, with new parallel zones open at depth and along strike.
Yandal Resources (ASX:YRL) has returned assay results from diamond drilling at the Flushing Meadows deposit and the Arrakis prospect inside its Ironstone Well-Barwidgee gold project in Western Australia. The results point to mineralisation that extends well beyond the current resource boundary.
A new diamond hole at Flushing Meadows cut several significant intercepts, mostly in heavily deformed and altered sedimentary units. Managing director Chris Oorschot said the results show multiple sub-parallel zones of mineralisation in the hanging wall, above and east of the existing 1.9km-striking mineral resource estimate (MRE).
“It is becoming very clear from these initial results that mineralisation constrained within the current Flushing Meadows mineral resource estimate only captures a small part of the Flushing Meadows mineralised systems,” Oorschot said.
He said the results demonstrate strong mineralisation continuity in fresh rock below the current MRE, and have identified several new, parallel, shallow structures that remain open at depth and along strike.
The company is also running a large air-core program across the broader Flushing Meadows and Giedi Prime target area. About 8,000m across 89 holes have been completed. The program is designed to map the boundaries of the Flushing Meadows system and run the first test across the Giedi Prime gravity target, first identified in 2024. First results are expected in September.
At Arrakis, extensional RC drilling southeast of the Scytale shear zone has defined a hard boundary to primary mineralisation along strike. But Oorschot noted that higher-grade mineralisation adjacent to the shear zone suggests the structure may play a role in localising better grades. Recent RC drilling 900m south of Arrakis, testing the parallel Anders regolith anomaly, could validate that idea – the best air-core intercept from that anomaly sits immediately next to the projected Scytale Shear Zone.
YRL last traded at 16.5¢, giving it a market cap of A$62.94 million.
