Yadea, J&T Partner on 1,000 Electric Tricycles for Manila Delivery

The pilot starts in Manila, the country's densest delivery market. Nationwide expansion would follow. The 1,000-unit figure is modest relative to J&T's full fleet, but it gives Yadea a foothold in a logistics segment that is shifting toward electrification.

For the sector, the deal is a read-through on EV adoption in emerging-market logistics. Last-mile delivery accounts for a disproportionate share of logistics costs in Southeast Asia, where narrow streets and frequent stops make electric tricycles a natural fit. Yadea, which has ranked first globally in electric two-wheeler sales for nine years, is betting that the same formula works for commercial trikes.

J&T Express competes with local players like LBC Express and 2GO, as well as global couriers. The partnership does not name other carriers, but the trend toward electrification is visible across the region. Similar trials have occurred in Thailand and Indonesia, though none at this scale.

Wang Chun called the partnership "a practical response to the country's demand for green transportation." The tricycles will begin operating in the coming weeks, with J&T monitoring range and downtime before deciding on the next phase.
