Wye Knot Opens in Builth Wells, Adding to High Street Retail Shift

Wye Knot, a new independent gift and homeware retailer, opened at 27 High Street in Builth Wells, Powys, on 29 June 2026. The shop follows a short soft-opening period.

The store sells homeware, gifts, and greeting cards. It is the latest independent retailer to open on the town's high street, which has seen a mix of closures and new openings over the past year.

Wye Knot is owned and run by local residents. The owners said they wanted to offer a curated selection of products that are not available from the larger chains in the area.

Builth Wells has a population of roughly 2,500. The high street has lost a bank branch and a supermarket in recent years but gained a coffee shop and a craft store in 2025.
