Wuxi Symphony Orchestra Debuts at Slovenia's Ljubljana Festival

The Wuxi Symphony Orchestra performed at the Ljubljana Festival in Slovenia on Aug. 20, 2026, marking the first time a Chinese orchestra played at the event's main stage. The concert, led by Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Lin Daye, opened with Verdi's Overture to I vespri siciliani and included an original symphonic suite by Li Shaosheng, "Fly To The Sky." Suona player Zhang Qianyuan and tenor Xue Haoyin also performed. The second half featured Brahms' Symphony No. 1 in C minor. The audience gave a standing ovation, which Darko Brlek, the festival's artistic director, said was the first standing ovation for a Chinese orchestra in the festival's 70-plus editions. The performance was the opening stop of the orchestra's 2026 European tour.
