Trio VMS earned a second consecutive Star Performer designation as the VMS field grew to 29 providers. Consistent client feedback and live AI deployments separate this from typical vendor awards.
Alpha Score of 59 reflects moderate overall profile with strong momentum, moderate value, moderate quality. Based on 3 of 4 signals — score is capped at 90 until remaining data ingests.
Trio Workforce Solutions' VMS platform earned a second consecutive Star Performer and Major Contender designation in Everest Group's 2026 VMS PEAK Matrix Assessment, this time in a field that grew to 29 providers. The award measures momentum, not static rank. Star Performer goes to the vendor showing the strongest year-over-year improvement across market impact and vision and capability. Trio improved on both axes. "Value Delivered" hit its highest rating yet, a score that reflects client-reported outcomes over four quarters.
Healthcare VMS is a niche inside a niche. Most platforms started in IT or general staffing, then adapted for healthcare. Trio built from scratch for U.S. healthcare. The Everest Group report explicitly calls that out, citing depth across nursing, allied health, locums, per diem, and float pools. Credentialing and compliance workflows remain the hard part. Trio's API-first architecture and integrated internal resource management (IRM) are live, not on a roadmap.
The naive read: another vendor award, another press release. The better read turns on the durability of the client feedback. Referenced clients in the 2026 assessment cited responsiveness, flexibility, and reporting as consistent strengths. Those exact themes appeared in the 2025 assessment. Consistent language over two years, across a larger evaluator pool, is a far stronger signal than a one-off win. Repeat buyers in healthcare are stingy with praise. When they say the same thing twice, the product works.
AI is the part that usually triggers eye rolls. Trio's Submission Evaluator AI, Timecard Audit AI, Market Intelligence, and Digital Worker Framework are deployed inside client environments today. No beta tag. No "coming soon." Everest Group treats them as delivered capabilities. In healthcare staffing, where a compliance error can shut down a department, AI that runs on live workflows carries more weight than a roadmap slide.
Trio's position did not coast. The provider field expanded, yet the company advanced its vision and strategy, market adoption, and portfolio mix scores. The firm's parent, AHSG, supports all major healthcare workforce segments through market brands including Trio, AHSA, AHS Staffing, and PediaStaff. The full assessment is available on Trio's website.
"Healthcare leaders don't need another system to manage. They need one connected operating model that turns workforce decisions into workforce outcomes," said David Durbin, President of Trio Workforce Solutions.
