Water Interruptions to Hit Parts of Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite

MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water Co. Inc. and Maynilad Water Services Inc. will cut water service in parts of Metro Manila, Rizal and Cavite this week for maintenance and leak-detection work, the two utilities said Sunday.

The interruptions run mostly overnight, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., through Aug. 14 across Pasig, Cainta, Antipolo, Taytay, Valenzuela, Malabon, Navotas, Quezon City and Caloocan. The longest disruption sits in Imus City, where capacity limits at Maynilad's Patindig Araw pumping station keep service down near-daily from Aug. 10 through Aug. 31.

Manila Water's overnight cuts

Manila Water's Pasig work starts Aug. 11, when declogging clears blockages in Maybunga and Rosario villages overnight. Santolan follows Aug. 13 under the same procedure.

In Rizal, Cainta's San Juan and San Isidro lose service Aug. 10-11 while crews clean line meters and strainers along Estrella St. and Birmingham Ave. A second Cainta zone, covering Sto. Domingo, San Andres, Sta. Rosa, San Roque and Sto. Niño, goes dark Aug. 11-12 for declogging along A. Bonifacio.

Antipolo carries the largest share of the work. Mambugan and parts of Cainta face interruptions Aug. 13-14 for step testing, a leak-detection method that isolates water flow section by section to find seepage. Bagong Nayon sits without water Aug. 11-12 for meter and strainer cleaning, and Mayamot and Cupang follow the same night for step testing. Sta. Cruz runs Aug. 12-13, and Beverly, along with Taytay's Dolores, Aug. 13-14, all for step testing.
