Waitrose to Open at Redevco's Chelmer Village Park

Redevco won Waitrose as a tenant for Chelmer Village Retail Park in Chelmsford. The new store, roughly 10,000 square feet with a 7,000-square-foot sales area, takes the park to fully let.

Redevco bought the park as part of a £518 million UK retail park portfolio from Oxford Properties in December 2024. Other deals in that portfolio have also closed recently. The Food Warehouse by Iceland replaced Carpetright at Bolton Gate Retail Park. The Range took over Homebase's lease in Staines at the start of 2025 and signed a new lease in December, a sign of confidence in the location.

Lauren Chew, asset manager at Redevco, said the Waitrose deal is a strong endorsement of the park. She cited sustained retailer appetite for well-located, convenience-led retail parks. CSP Retail and Green Lane Real Estate are the letting agents on the scheme.
