Vusion agreed to acquire In-Store Media, betting that physical stores are the next big retail media channel. The deal combines Vusion's connected-store platform with In-Store Media's in-store execution network.
Vusion, a French company that builds AI-powered digitalization tools for physical stores, said it has agreed to acquire In-Store Media, a Barcelona-based in-store retail media company. The companies did not disclose financial terms.
Thierry Gadou, Vusion's chairman and CEO, called physical retail "the next big digital media." His argument: online commerce already has a mature retail media business. Stores, where most shoppers still make purchase decisions, are the next frontier.
"By combining Vusion's connected store platform with In-Store Media's track record, execution capabilities, and relationships with retailers and brands, we are helping retailers turn store traffic into measurable media value," Gadou said in a statement.
In-Store Media CEO Fernando de Vicente said joining Vusion would accelerate his company's mission to digitize in-store retail media at scale. He said the combined company would help retailers generate additional value from foot traffic while creating better shopper experiences.
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Vusion expects to finance it with debt.
Vusion won Retail Technology Show's 2026 Innovation Awards earlier this year. The awards, judged by a panel including influencer Andrew Busby and IGD analyst Toby Pickard, recognized Vusion's scalability and its ability to connect store-wide tech ecosystems.
Busby said Vusion is "reshaping the store experience for both store colleagues and customers." Roy Horgan, Vusion's group SEVP of strategy, marketing and communications, said the award was meaningful because "with operational costs continuing to rise, technology remains one of the last bastions of productivity."
Physical stores remain a focus area for the industry. The RTIH Innovation Awards, now open for entries, will celebrate global retail technology innovation at a ceremony in London on Nov. 4.
