Vietnam PM orders probe after 15 Indian tourists die in boat accident

The prime minister assigned An Giang Province, which administers the island, to lead an assessment of the accident's cause. He ordered the Ministry of Public Security to investigate and take action against any organizations or individuals found in violation of the law.

Vietnam's Ministry of Construction was directed to review safety measures for inland waterway and maritime traffic in the area and in locations with similar conditions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was told to work with the Indian Embassy on consular affairs and citizen protection.

The Indian Embassy released a list of the 32 citizens on board – 30 men and two women – and set up two contact points, in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, to assist affected nationals.
