Vedanta Aluminium Metal's Q1 PAT tripled to ₹6,597 crore on higher volumes and realisations. Board declared ₹8 interim dividend. Approved 150 MW battery storage deal with Serentica.
Vedanta Aluminium Metal Ltd (VAML) posted a consolidated profit after tax of ₹6,597 crore for the June quarter, up from ₹2,162 crore a year earlier. Revenue rose 45.9% to ₹21,393 crore, the company said in a BSE filing. The jump was driven by higher volumes and improved realisations.
The board declared a first interim dividend of ₹8 per share for FY27, totalling roughly ₹3,128.55 crore. This is the first quarterly earnings report since VAML listed on June 15 as part of the Vedanta group’s four-way demerger.
“We have commenced our new, independent chapter with robust operational and financial performance,” Whole-Time Director & CEO Rajesh Kumar said in a statement. He cited the company’s focus on resource security and value-added products.
VAML is India’s largest aluminium producer, with a 5 million tonne per annum alumina refinery in Lanjigarh, Odisha, and smelters at Jharsuguda and BALCO. The Jharsuguda plant is the world’s biggest aluminium smelter, with 1.85 MTPA capacity and 3,615 MW of captive thermal power.
The board also approved a deal with Serentica Renewable India to integrate a 150 MW round-the-clock battery storage system. The project will convert an existing 600 MW solar power agreement into a 24-hour renewable supply, supporting the company’s decarbonisation targets. VAML will invest ₹165 crore for a 26% stake in the project under a group captive structure.
The demerged entities – VAML, Vedanta Power, Vedanta Oil and Gas, and Vedanta Iron and Steel – began trading on June 15. The parent, Vedanta Ltd, retains a controlling stake in each.
