UPI hit ₹29.88 lakh crore in transaction value and 23.66 billion in volume in July, 19% above last year. PayNearby's CEO said trust and grassroots access will sustain the growth.
India's Unified Payments Interface hit a new high in July, processing ₹29.88 lakh crore across 23.66 billion transactions, the National Payments Corporation of India said Saturday.
Volume rose from 23.2 billion in May and 22.72 billion in June. The value grew 19% from ₹25.08 lakh crore a year earlier.
"UPI continues to strengthen the foundation of India's digital payments ecosystem," PayNearby MD and CEO Anand Kumar Bajaj said. He added that building trust and ease of use at the grassroots level will be critical to turning digital-adoption growth into broader financial inclusion.
The service is now active in about ten countries, including the UAE, Singapore, France and Qatar, according to NPCI data. International expansion supports remittances and positions India's payment rails as a global benchmark.
NPCI, an umbrella organization for retail payments under the Reserve Bank of India, runs UPI for real-time peer-to-peer and merchant transactions. The July figures extend a run of monthly records that underscores deepening adoption among Indian consumers and businesses.
