State employees and power sector unions want a slot before the commission finishes its consultations. A joint memorandum is planned.
State employee organisations in Uttar Pradesh are pressing for a formal meeting with the 8th Pay Commission before its recommendations are finalized. The unions want to be heard on salaries, allowances, fitment factor and service conditions.
Shailendra Dubey, chairman of the All India Power Engineers Federation, said Sunday the commission is expected to meet with All India Services representatives but has not scheduled time for state government employees or power sector representatives, as reported by The Times of India.
Union leaders argued that state employees' input would give the commission better insight into pay revision, service conditions and fitment factor. They emphasized that the views of state government personnel should carry weight, given how the commission's recommendations affect state employees, power sector staff and associated personnel across Uttar Pradesh.
The organisations also flagged concerns of contractual and outsourced workers. They said the commission must consider these workers' ideas, grievances and concerns.
The employee body plans to submit a joint memorandum to commission chairperson Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and request a chance to present their views.
The 8th Pay Commission was constituted on November 3, 2025 with an 18-month tenure through June-July 2027. It is currently collecting views through stakeholder consultations across the country. Recommendations are expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
