Ukrop's Recalls Spaghetti, Chicken Cobbler Over Metal Slivers

The problem came to light after a customer found a piece of metal in a fully cooked product, FSIS said. No injuries have been confirmed. The agency urged anyone concerned about an injury to contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who bought the recalled products, including those stored in freezers, should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The recall follows a similar one in June, when Rich Products Corp. recalled more than 160,000 pounds of its Farm Rich Pizza Cheese Crunchers across 21 states because the frozen snacks may have contained metal pieces, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

For Ukrop's, a regional brand with a loyal customer base in the mid-Atlantic, the recall risks eroding trust at a time when food-safety incidents are drawing heightened attention from regulators and consumers alike. The company's distribution through commissaries and online channels means the recall's reach extends beyond its core Virginia footprint, potentially affecting military families and e-commerce shoppers who may not see in-store signage. The 23,000-pound figure, while modest compared to national recalls, represents a significant share of the affected production run given the July 1–29 manufacturing window. Ukrop's has not said whether it has traced the metal source or adjusted its quality-control procedures. FSIS will continue to monitor the recall's effectiveness, a standard step that can escalate to a public health alert if compliance rates lag.
