Ukraine Says Its Ballistic Missiles Could Hit Moscow by Fall

Fire Point is also developing a version of the FP7 as an anti-ballistic missile system similar to the U.S. Patriot, part of the Freya programme involving nine European partner countries. Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh told Reuters the company plans to carry out its first successful ballistic missile interception by mid-2027.

The Ukrainian president also addressed the deployment of North Korean troops to Russian territory. In a post on X, he wrote that North Korean personnel appear in Russia "from time to time," with the number rising from hundreds to thousands. "Now a decision has been made for 30,000 to 50,000 North Koreans to be deployed on the territory of Russia," he wrote. "They are studying this war."

Zelenskyy said Ukraine has already recovered North Korean missiles from its territory. "It is absolutely clear that North Korea will continue to build its experience in modern warfare, receive licenses from Russia, and receive all kinds of military tools from them," he said.

The missile announcement came as Russia intensified its military campaign. On Aug. 8, Moscow launched overnight attacks against Kyiv and the surrounding region. Zelenskyy and local authorities reported four people killed, including a three-year-old child, and eight others injured. The president said three of the dead in the Brovary district of Kyiv Oblast were a grandmother, grandfather and their three-year-old grandson. The child's parents, 15-year-old brother and a neighbour who came to their aid were among four people injured in Pukhivka and taken to hospital. Kyiv's military administration said one person was killed and four others wounded in the capital itself.
