TVS sold 5.65 lakh units globally in June, beating Hero (5.41 lakh) and Honda (5.28 lakh). Exports were 2.9x the combined Hero+Honda export volume. The question is whether TVS can hold the lead through the festive season.
TVS Motor Company sold 5.65 lakh two-wheelers globally in June, overtaking Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India for the first time in a normal sales month. Hero sold 5.41 lakh units. Honda sold 5.28 lakh.
The company had briefly held the lead in December 2025. A company source called that a "post-season month where all players reduce their stocks." June is a regular sales month, making the achievement more significant.
Exports were the decisive factor. TVS shipped 1.54 lakh units abroad, 2.9 times the combined export volume of Hero and Honda. The source said that volume "reflects TVS's deepening presence across international markets, including Africa, Latin America, Asean, and West Asia, positioning it as an increasingly globally diversified two-wheeler manufacturer."
Total sales rose 47% year-on-year to 565,417 units. Domestic dispatches hit 411,014 units, up 46%. Scooters led the growth at 53%, with 247,950 units sold. Motorcycles rose 42% to 267,096 units. TVS's 47% growth rate far outpaced the rates posted by Hero and Honda. Bajaj also trailed.
TVS also passed a milestone in its electric vehicle line. The company rolled out its 1 millionth iQube electric scooter from the Hosur plant in late June, nearly six years after the model launched. Monthly iQube sales hit 42,459 units in May, up 65% from a year earlier. The iQube is the largest-selling EV brand in the space, the source said.
The June result caps a sustained multi-quarter trend. The source said TVS has posted the fastest volume growth among major OEMs through FY26, steadily narrowing the gap with Hero and Honda.
The question now is whether TVS can hold the lead through the festive season, when Hero and Honda typically push higher volumes through dealer networks. For Hero and Honda, the June result marks a loss of market leadership they have held for decades. TVS's export strength and EV momentum give it structural advantages that the incumbents lack. The company source said, "This is the first time that we have become clear market leaders."
