The Hindu's 1947 Edition to Sell on Zepto for 80th Independence Day

The Hindu will make its historic August 15, 1947 edition available for purchase on Zepto, the quick-commerce platform, starting August 1, 2026. The reprint marks the 80th anniversary of India's independence and offers a reproduction of the original 32-page newspaper as it appeared on that day.

The edition includes rare photographs from the freedom struggle, Independence Day greetings from leaders including Jawaharlal Nehru and Lord Mountbatten, and advertisements from brands of the era. The Hindu said the reprint preserves the exact layout, editorials and announcements that captured the moment.

The newspaper, founded in 1878, has chronicled India's defining events. The 1947 edition is among its most significant, documenting the birth of independent India. Limited copies will be sold exclusively on Zepto across major cities until stock lasts.
