Tecon Suape, ICTSI's Brazilian container terminal, earned its second Green Company Seal from Pernambuco state for ESG-aligned practices. One of 16 certified this year.
Tecon Suape, the ICTSI-operated container terminal at Brazil's Port of Suape, picked up its second Green Company Seal from the government of Pernambuco state. The terminal is one of 16 organizations certified this year under a program that rewards businesses for sustainable practices tied to environmental, social, and governance metrics.
The Green Company Seal Program was created by State Law No. 16.112/2017. A joint commission runs it, pulling in the Secretariat of the Environment, Sustainability and Fernando de Noronha, the State Environmental Agency, the Commercial Board of Pernambuco, and the Secretariat of Professional Development and Entrepreneurship. The idea is to push companies to pair economic growth with environmental preservation and social inclusion.
Tecon Suape has been updating its logistics infrastructure through technical adjustments and standardized business practices. Management says these steps support Pernambuco's regional production chain and keep the terminal in line with regulatory changes in Brazil's port sector. The seal is valid for two years.
The terminal operates as a logistics hub inside the Port of Suape, matching regional cargo flows with state-monitored environmental metrics. It is the largest container-handling facility in Pernambuco, serving agricultural and industrial sectors in northern and northeastern Brazil through direct access to major road networks.
Tecon Suape S.A. (TSSA) started in April 2001, when ICTSI won a 30-year concession to develop, build, and run the Suape Container Terminal.
