The Supreme Court of India has denied Vedanta Limited's request to halt the insolvency resolution process involving the Adani Group's acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates.

The Supreme Court of India has rejected an application for interim relief filed by Vedanta Limited regarding the corporate insolvency resolution process of Jaiprakash Associates Limited. In a ruling delivered on Monday, the bench declined to stay ongoing proceedings related to the approval of a resolution plan submitted by the Adani Group.

Vedanta Limited had moved the court to challenge the legitimacy of the resolution process, which seeks to transfer the assets of the insolvent firm to the Adani Group. By denying the request for an interim stay, the Supreme Court has allowed the insolvency resolution process to continue without judicial interference at this stage. The legal dispute centers on the competitive bidding process and the subsequent selection of the Adani Group’s plan for the takeover of Jaiprakash Associates, a company currently navigating significant financial distress under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The court's decision ensures that the transition proceedings remain active while the underlying legal challenges filed by Vedanta remain before the judiciary.
