Super-Sod bought Edge Right's steel edging business and Lewis Bamboo's plant nursery. The deals close July 1, with Edge Right products heading to 25 retail locations across six states.
Super-Sod, the Southeast turfgrass and lawn care retailer, bought Edge Right, a maker of Cor-Ten steel landscape edging and outdoor products, and Lewis Bamboo, a bamboo plant supplier. The deal closed July 1, Super-Sod said July 20.
Edge Right, based in Berry, Alabama, produces raised garden beds, tree rings, planters, and fire pits alongside its signature steel edging. Lewis Bamboo supplies plants for privacy screens, ornamental landscaping, and erosion control. Both brands will keep operating from Alabama.
The acquisitions fit Super-Sod's push to sell more than grass. The company operates 25 retail locations across Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. Edge Right products will start appearing on those shelves and through supersod.com, CEO Ben Copeland said.
“Our vision has always been to become the destination for complete lawn and landscape solutions,” Copeland said. “Adding Edge Right and Lewis Bamboo to our family of brands allows us to better serve our customers.”
Edge Right CEO Daniel Mullaly said the deal gives his company wider reach. “With Super-Sod's strong retail presence and reputation for customer service, we're excited to make our products more accessible,” he said. Founder Roger Lewis Jr. added that the company is “passionate about building durable, American-made products.”
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Super-Sod is a vertically integrated turfgrass grower and retailer that also sells fertilizer, compost, grass seed, and sod by the roll, pallet, or truckload. The company said it remains open to more acquisitions of landscaping product companies.
