Spain beat France 2-0 on Tuesday to reach the World Cup final for the first time since 2010. Mikel Oyarzabal scored from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after Lamine Yamal drew a foul from Lucas Digne. Pedro Porro added a second goal in the 58th minute, finishing a give-and-go with Dani Olmo.
Yamal, a day after his 19th birthday, was central to both goals. His run forced Digne into a kick that gave Spain the penalty. Later, his smart play in the buildup helped create Porro's strike. Yamal was denied a goal on a close offside call soon after Spain's second.
France, ranked No. 1 by FIFA, were trying to become the third team to reach three consecutive World Cup finals. They will instead play in the third-place game on Saturday in Miami Gardens. Spain will face either defending champion Argentina or England in Sunday's final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
