Shares of South West Pinnacle Exploration Ltd surged 8.4% to ₹255.76 on Tuesday, a day after the Gurgaon-based driller reported a near-fourfold jump in first-quarter profit.
The company posted consolidated revenue of ₹617 million for the three months ended June, up 53% from ₹402 million a year earlier. Profit after tax rose 287% to ₹93 million from ₹24 million, while EBITDA margins widened to 24% from 14%.
Volume on the NSE hit 13.77 lakh shares by mid-morning. Buy orders accounted for more than 81% of the order book. The stock touched an intraday high of ₹257, against a 52-week high of ₹275 hit in June.
On the operational side, the company started work on its single largest order, worth ₹307 crore in Rajasthan, and secured a CBM contract extension from Reliance Industries valued at over ₹166 crore. The order book reached an all-time high of ₹761 crore. The company runs 20 operations across eight states with zero loss-time injuries, it said.
SWPEL also completed an airborne survey under its second joint venture in Oman, with a geological report under preparation. It is participating in a rights issue of its Australian partner Alara Resources Ltd. Separately, coal block exploration in Jharkhand has been completed and a definitive geological report is being drafted.
Chairman and Managing Director Vikas Jain attributed the performance to expanded client relationships and stronger capabilities. He said new drilling rigs have been ordered to meet demand and cited a structural tailwind from the government's focus on domestic mineral exploration and critical minerals.
The stock has gained 72% in the past year and trades at a trailing P/E of 17.75.
