Sky Labs presented its ring-type blood pressure monitor, CART BP pro, at the Digital Biomarkers in Clinical Trials Summit in Basel, Switzerland. The company is pitching the device as a data platform for drug clinical trials, aiming to replace conventional cuff-based monitors that often disrupt sleep and increase dropout rates.
Conventional 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors use an arm cuff that inflates repeatedly. A 2011 study by Viera et al. found that 70.2% of users experienced sleep disruption. Among participants with low tolerability, the failure rate for collecting adequate 24-hour data reached 50.0% on repeated measurements. Those dropout rates raise costs and stretch clinical timelines.
CART BP pro is a cuffless ring worn on the finger. It collects blood pressure data during daily activities and sleep without repeated arm constriction. The company says this reduces the measurement burden on subjects and helps secure stable, long-term vital signs data, including heart rate.
The device can also be used to evaluate therapeutic responses to existing medications. By monitoring blood pressure fluctuations based on dosing times and lifestyle patterns, it helps generate real-world evidence for drug efficacy, safety, and patient prognosis.
CART BP pro is covered under South Korea's national health insurance system. It was also recommended for clinical use in the recently revised Korean Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension, which certified it as a cuffless blood pressure monitor.
"Based on CART BP pro's technology, validated by the Korean Society of Hypertension guidelines and health insurance coverage, we demonstrated its potential as a high-quality vital sign data platform for clinical trials," said Jack Byunghwan Lee, CEO of Sky Labs. "We intend to expand our clinical trial use cases through strategic collaborations with global pharmaceutical companies."
Sky Labs was founded in September 2015. It develops and operates CART, a ring-type medical device and platform for chronic disease monitoring. In 2023, it received medical device approval for CART BP pro. In 2024, the device was recognized by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service under the existing medical procedure for 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. In September 2025, the company launched CART BP, a consumer-grade version, available through its official online store and other online channels.
