Indian stocks rose for a second day on Friday, with the Sensex jumping 827 points to 77,569 and the Nifty climbing 244 points to 24,207. The rally was led by heavyweights Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank, with HDFC Bank also contributing, along with IT stocks after TCS reported a 4.6% rise in June-quarter net profit to Rs 13,349 crore and guided for improving demand in the current quarter, the company said.
Brent crude dipped 0.3% to $76.07 a barrel, adding to the positive tone. Foreign institutional investors sold Rs 533 crore in equities on Thursday, exchange data showed.
Among the gainers, HDFC Bank carries an Alpha Score of 48, labeled Mixed, while ICICI Bank scores 57, labeled Moderate. Infosys, also up on the day, has a 57 Alpha Score in the Technology sector.
Asian markets were mixed, with South Korea's Kospi and Japan's Nikkei higher while Shanghai's composite slipped.
