Axa XL appointed Samantha Wotton as head of coverholder development, UK, the company said. She joins from Dual, where she served as deputy commercial officer.
Wotton brings more than 20 years of industry experience. She reports to Elie Hanna, chief distribution officer of UK and Lloyd's at Axa XL. In her new role, she will oversee the insurer's UK coverholder commercial strategy and engagement model. The role includes developing relationships with Lloyd's coverholders, firms authorized to underwrite on behalf of syndicates.
Coverholders are a key distribution channel for Axa XL's property and casualty capacity in the London market. They underwrite policies on behalf of Lloyd's syndicates, giving the insurer access to a broader network without taking on all the underwriting risk. The appointment took effect this week, the company said.
Axa XL is a subsidiary of Axa SA, a French multinational insurance group.
