Sam Neill, 'Jurassic Park' Star, Dies at 78

Sam Neill, the actor who played Dr. Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park films, died Monday in Sydney. He was 78. His family announced the death in a statement posted to his social media accounts.

"Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life," the statement said. "The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free."

Neill revealed in March 2023 that he had been treated for angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma and was in remission. He said the diagnosis came after he noticed swollen glands while promoting Jurassic World Dominion a year earlier.
