SABIC and Bahri delivered the largest chemicals cargo to South Asia, routing through the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. The shipment signals deeper Gulf petrochemical ties to Asian industrial demand.
Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) said it partnered with National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) to deliver its largest-ever chemicals shipment to South Asia. The cargo included methanol, ethylene glycol, and other industrial chemicals, the company said in a statement.
The shipment was routed through the Red Sea and Indian Ocean, with Bahri handling the logistics and vessel operations. SABIC did not disclose the exact volume or value of the cargo.
The delivery comes as Gulf petrochemical producers push deeper into Asian markets, where demand for feedstock chemicals has risen with industrial expansion. SABIC has been expanding its logistics network in the region, including storage and distribution hubs in India and Southeast Asia.
Bahri, which operates one of the world's largest chemical tanker fleets, has been increasing its focus on the South Asia trade lane. The company said the shipment was completed without operational disruptions.
SABIC's statement did not provide a timeline for future shipments of similar scale.
