Rodney Strong received the Parren J. Mitchell Crusader Award on Aug. 12 from the American Contract Compliance Association at its 40th National Training Institute in Atlanta. The award recognizes Strong's decades of work in contract compliance, disparity research, and equitable procurement, the association said.
Strong's career in this field began in 1985, when Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young appointed him as the city's Director of Contract Compliance. That role put him at the center of efforts to expand access for minority-owned and women-owned businesses, as well as disadvantaged and small-business enterprises, to public contracting. He later co-founded Griffin & Strong, P.C., an Atlanta law and policy consulting firm that has conducted disparity studies and advised government entities across the country on procurement and economic inclusion programs.
