Rita's opens its second DFW location in Carrollton this week, with a ceremonial scoop Aug. 24 and public opening Aug. 26. Two more stores are planned for 2026.
Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard opens its second Dallas-Fort Worth location this week, part of a four-store push into the region. The Carrollton shop, at 4213 N. Josey Lane, will host a "Scoop-er Cutting Ceremony" on Aug. 24 with the Metrocrest Area Chamber of Commerce, swapping the traditional ribbon for a ceremonial first scoop. The doors open to the public Aug. 26.
Kyle Wiborg, the franchise owner, will be on-site for the Aug. 24 event with local officials and Chamber leadership. Linda Chadwick, Rita's CEO, will attend the Aug. 26 grand opening. Both are available for media interviews.
Carrollton has more than 132,000 residents and a median household income near $94,000, making it the kind of family-oriented suburb Rita's targets as it builds out North Texas. The brand opened its first DFW location in North Richland Hills in July. Additional openings in Farmers Branch and Flower Mound are planned later this year.
Rita's is the largest Italian Ice concept globally, with more than 600 locations. The chain has been operating for more than 40 years.
The scoop-er cutting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 24. The grand opening begins at noon Aug. 26.
