R3 Vascular appointed Robert Spanos as VP of Global Market Development and Katie Segreto as VP of Finance to support accelerated trial enrollment and future commercialization of its MAGNITUDE bioresorbable scaffold.
R3 Vascular Inc. appointed two senior executives to support the company's push toward commercialization of its bioresorbable scaffold technology for peripheral artery disease. Robert Spanos joins as vice president of global market development. Katie Segreto becomes vice president of finance and corporate controller.
The Mountain View, California-based medical device company is developing MAGNITUDE, a fully bioresorbable drug-eluting scaffold coated with sirolimus. The device is designed to provide temporary vessel support and then dissolve over time as the artery heals. R3 Vascular is currently enrolling patients in the ELITE clinical trial, which is evaluating the scaffold in tibial vessels for critical limb ischemia.
Christopher M. Owens, president and CEO, said the appointments come as the company accelerates trial enrollment and builds the infrastructure needed for a future commercial launch. He called both executives "instrumental" to advancing clinical development and scaling the organization.
Spanos brings more than 20 years of experience in peripheral vascular markets. He previously held senior leadership roles at Emblok Inc., AngioDynamics, and Eximo Medical, where he worked on IDE trials, FDA 510(k) submissions, and product launches. He also served at IDev Technologies, Mercator MedSystems, FoxHollow Technologies, and Guidant Endovascular Solutions.
"Bob's deep experience in peripheral vascular markets and successful product launches will strengthen our commercial strategy and market expansion efforts," Owens said in a statement.
Segreto has over 18 years of finance leadership across medical device, biotechnology, and technology sectors. She was vice president of finance at Kronos Bio, a publicly traded clinical-stage biotech, and earlier built the finance function at K Health, where she helped the company grow from zero to $20 million in revenue through Series C and D rounds. She also held roles at Bonobos and spent eight years in PwC's life science audit practice.
"Katie's extensive finance leadership experience will help us scale our organization and position R3 Vascular for long-term growth," Owens said.
The company is privately held and does not disclose financial results. It is focused on completing the ELITE trial and advancing product line extensions. Spanos said the MAGNITUDE platform's ultra-high molecular weight polymer offers strength and flexibility needed for tibial vessels, with potential applications in other vascular beds including the superficial femoral and coronary arteries.
Segreto said she looks forward to supporting the company's clinical and commercial objectives to bring the technology to patients.
The appointments follow a period of rapid acceleration in ELITE trial enrollment, according to the company. No timeline for completion or regulatory submission has been disclosed.
