QuantumScape lost $119.6M in Q2, narrower than last year but revenue missed estimates at $1.3M. Cash burn continues with no auto revenue yet.
QuantumScape posted a second-quarter net loss of $119.6 million, narrower than the $131.7 million loss a year earlier, the company said after markets closed Wednesday. Revenue came in at $1.3 million, below the $2.6 million analysts surveyed by FactSet had expected. The solid-state battery developer reported no automotive customer revenue, with the top line driven entirely by a single engineering services agreement.
Operating expenses fell to $121.8 million from $133.6 million, driven by lower stock-based compensation and reduced spending on R&D and general administration. The company ended the quarter with $645 million in cash and marketable securities, down from $842 million at the end of 2025.
QuantumScape reiterated its 2026 capital expenditure guidance of $200 million to $300 million and said it continues to expect to spend from its cash balance this year. The company has not yet begun generating automotive revenue and remains dependent on partnerships with Volkswagen and others to commercialize its battery technology.
Shares fell about 6% in after-hours trading following the release. The stock has declined roughly 40% this year.
