QMines grows Mount Mackenzie gold resource 32% after first drilling campaign since acquisition; 70% of gold now in Indicated category.
QMines (ASX:QML) has lifted the mineral resource at its Mount Mackenzie Gold and Silver Project in Central Queensland, with contained gold up 32% and silver up 30% against the previous 2020 estimate.
The updated JORC Mineral Resource stands at 5.22 million tonnes at 1.01g/t gold and 6.7g/t silver, containing 170,000 ounces of gold and 1.12 million ounces of silver.
Around 70% of the contained gold is now classified as Indicated, up from 66,000 ounces previously to about 120,000 ounces. The higher-confidence classification gives QMines a firmer base for mine planning and development studies, the company said.
The update follows a 73-hole, 9,798-metre reverse circulation and diamond drilling campaign focused on the North Knoll deposit. It was the first drilling QMines ran at Mount Mackenzie since acquiring the project.
Exploration Manager Tom Bartschi said the results gave the company a clearer picture of how gold is distributed across the deposit. Mineralisation is controlled by geological structures and alteration rather than random distribution, he said, which allowed the team to build a more accurate geological model and target future drilling.
The drilling campaign did not close off mineralisation. The deposits remain open along strike and at depth, leaving room for further resource growth. QMines plans to continue drilling to test extensions of the mineral system, particularly at depth and west of the North Knoll deposit. South West Slopes remains available for future resource growth after not being drilled in the latest campaign.
"This is the first Mount Mackenzie Mineral Resource Estimate informed by QMines drilling and represents a clear advancement from the Resource base the Company acquired," Bartschi said.
