Farmers must complete eKYC and link Aadhaar to bank accounts before the June 20 payout of Rs 2,000 under the PM Kisan scheme.
The government set June 20, 2026 for the 23rd instalment of the PM Kisan scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the Rs 2,000 payment at an event in Tarakeswar, Hooghly, West Bengal. The funds will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Farmers must meet three conditions to get the money. Land records need to be seeded in the PM Kisan portal. Bank accounts must be linked to Aadhaar. The e-KYC process must also be finished. The agriculture ministry has urged those who have not completed eKYC to do so soon.
The 22nd instalment was disbursed on March 13, 2026 from Guwahati, Assam. That gave farmers Rs 4,000 for the current fiscal year. The scheme provides Rs 6,000 annually in three equal payments of Rs 2,000 each.
Beneficiaries can check their status on the PM Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in. They enter their Aadhaar number or bank account number to see eligibility and instalment credit status. The portal also shows eKYC progress.
The PM Kisan scheme started in 2019 and covers small and marginal farmers holding less than two hectares of land. The 23rd payout adds liquidity in rural areas right before the kharif planting season. This typically lifts spending on seeds, fertilizers, and farm equipment.
The timing of the disbursement supports rural demand. Companies in the tractor, fertilizer, and consumer goods sectors often see a sales increase after such instalments. The government has not announced a date for the 24th instalment, which would fall around September or October under the regular schedule.
