Plazza, backed by Accel and Elevation, plans 10 stores in eight weeks and 20 by year-end. Its AI-driven inventory system tailors stock to local prescribing patterns, with only 50% of top sellers overlapping across two stores.
Quick medicine delivery startup Plazza has closed a $15 million Series A round. Accel, Elevation Capital, and Nexus Venture Partners co-led the investment. Existing backers All In Capital and Better Capital also participated.
Founder and chief executive Aman Priyadarshi said in an interview with Mint that the funds will go toward expanding the store network. “We have a couple of stores in Bengaluru that we have been experimenting with, and now we've raised capital to increase our geographical footprint,” he said. “We are launching about 10 stores very quickly in the next eight weeks, and we will have about 20 stores in the city by the end of this year.”
Plazza expects to reach other cities within a year and aims for more than 3,000 stores in the next three to four years, Priyadarshi said.
Founded in 2024, the company competes in India’s crowded pharmacy market by stocking a far larger inventory than traditional retailers and emphasizing fast deliveries of 15 to 30 minutes. A typical pharmacy carries about 5,000 medicines and fills 50-60% of prescriptions. Plazza stocks more than 40,000 stock-keeping units, using artificial intelligence to build store-specific assortments based on neighborhood-level demand.
The company uses an omnichannel model with physical stores and online deliveries, Priyadarshi said. “We expect our customers to place an order on an app or WhatsApp, and we deliver. We use a large part of the space to store inventory, and that's how we have done our manpower planning, our store design, etc.”
Across its two existing Bengaluru stores, only about 50% of the top-selling medicines overlap, the company said. The figure highlights how much prescription behavior varies between micro-markets, a challenge Plazza’s AI-driven inventory system is designed to solve.
The fresh capital will also be used to strengthen the technology platform, deepening its AI-powered inventory and assortment intelligence, the company said in a press release.
Plazza’s gross merchandise value grew roughly 27 times between June 2025 and March 2026, the company reported.
The funding round lands during a period of consolidation in India’s organized pharmacy retail space. Large players such as Tata 1mg and Apollo 24/7 dominate the market. Recent investment has targeted startups that address specific gaps. Generics-focused Truemeds raised $85 million in a Series C round in August 2025, led by Accel and Peak XV. PlatinumRx, another generic medicine startup, raised $6 million in a Series A in September 2025, led by Stellaris Venture Partners.
