Perseus Mining appointed former Gold Fields executive Tommy McKeith to its board. The move strengthens African mining expertise as the company advances its Nyanzaga gold project in Tanzania.
Perseus Mining Ltd. appointed Tommy McKeith as an independent non-executive director, effective immediately, bringing a former Gold Fields Ltd. executive onto the board as the Australian gold producer pushes ahead with its Nyanzaga project in Tanzania.
McKeith spent 30 years in mining leadership, most recently as executive vice president for growth and international projects at Gold Fields, where he oversaw global greenfields exploration and project development. He also served as chief executive officer of Troy Resources and holds non-executive director roles at Thungela Resources, Arrow Minerals, Evolution Mining and Ordell Minerals.
"Tommy's track record leading global greenfields exploration and growth at Gold Fields, combined with his operational experience as CEO of Troy Resources and his current board roles across the sector, will be invaluable as we advance our growth pipeline, including the Nyanzaga Gold Project," Chairman Rick Menell said in a statement.
The appointment completes a board renewal phase at Perseus, which operates gold mines in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire and is developing the Nyanzaga project. The company trades on the ASX and TSX under the ticker PRU.
Gold Fields, where McKeith spent a decade in senior roles, is a Johannesburg-based producer with operations in Ghana, Australia, Peru and South Africa. The appointment signals Perseus is deepening its bench of African mining experience as it scales up on the continent.
McKeith holds an MBA, a graduate diploma in mining and mineral engineering, and a BSc honours in geology from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Perseus has an Alpha Score of 66 out of 100, a Moderate label, and sits in the Financials sector. Gold Fields carries an Alpha Score of 65, also Moderate, in Basic Materials.
"Tommy's appointment completes an important phase of our Board renewal process," Menell said.
