Orthocell ships 200 more nerve repair products to Ukraine with Perth backing. The donation supports wounded civilians and highlights the company's nerve repair tech.
Orthocell, the Murdoch-based regenerative medicine company, is shipping another 200 nerve repair products to Ukraine. The donation was backed by several large Perth investors, the company said.
The products are designed for peripheral nerve repair, a specialty that has seen urgent demand since the war began. Orthocell’s regenerative medicine platform focuses on tissue reconstruction, and the nerve repair products are among its most established offerings. The company is based in Western Australia’s Murdoch technology precinct.
The Perth backers provided funding for the shipment, which follows earlier donations Orthocell made to Ukrainian medical facilities. The company did not disclose the total value of the donations or the names of the funders.
Nerve injuries from shrapnel and blast wounds are common in conflict zones, and nearly two million Ukrainian civilians and soldiers have been wounded since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Orthocell’s products are intended for use in reconstructive surgery.
Orthocell expects the products to reach Ukrainian hospitals within weeks, it said. The company has not signaled any change to its commercial operations or guidance as a result of the donation.
