Openchannelflow, a manufacturer of water and wastewater flow devices, won a Web Excellence Award for the redesign of its website, Openchannelflow.com. The award, which recognizes global leaders in digital innovation, honored the site in three categories: Website: Corporate & B2B, Features & Design: Navigation Structure, and Features & Design: Website Functional Design. The project was selected from more than 1,400 submissions across 50 countries.
The redesign was a collaboration between brand strategy firm Sharp Creative and digital agency Creative Arc. Sharp Creative led the brand strategy, visual identity, and messaging. A key feature is the segmentation of navigation into two pathways: "Solve a Problem" for novice users and "Research a Solution" for experts. The first guides users through a step-by-step educational process; the second gives experienced engineers and utility clients direct access to technical data.
Creative Arc handled the site's interactive experience, including fast performance, responsive layouts, and intuitive navigation. A major development challenge was restructuring a large archive of technical data into a clean taxonomy. The agency also integrated interactive 3D models that let users explore Openchannelflow's product range.
"This project demonstrates how disciplined design applied at scale can turn an overwhelming technical archive into an elegant, confident, user-focused experience," the Web Excellence Award said.
Openchannelflow serves governmental, municipal, and industrial clients in the water, wastewater, aviation, chemical feed, and telecommunications sectors. The company is based in metro Atlanta.
